Las Vegas Nevada has a Graduated Driver License Program for Las Vegas Nevada teen drivers, and there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure that applying for your first Las Vegas Nevada driver’s license goes as smoothly as possible. So let’s get started.
The Las Vegas Nevada Instructional Permit or Las Vegas Nevada Learner’s Permit
When you turn 15 and a half, you can apply for a Las Vegas Nevada Instruction Permit. To apply, you’ll need to meet the following Las Vegas Nevada requirements:
- Be 15 and a half
- Complete a Las Vegas Nevada approved driver safety course
- Present proof of identity (U.S. issued birth certificate or Social Security Card)
- Pay the $22 fee
- And your parent/guardian must sign a financial responsibility section of driver application
If you’ve met all of the Las Vegas Nevada teen driver’s license requirements, head on down to your local Las Vegas Nevada DMV and submit your application. Then you’ll have to take a written test, consisting of 50 multiple choice questions, a vision test, and an initial road skills test. If you fail, the retest fee is $10. If you pass, then congratulations. You’ve just received your Las Vegas Nevada Instruction Permit, which is valid for 1 year.
Remember that with your Las Vegas Nevada Learner’s Permit, you can practice driving with your parent, guardian, driving instructor, or licensed driver who is at least 21. All passengers must wear seatbelts, and be sure to carry your Las Vegas Nevada Learner’s Permit with you at all times. After you’ve had your Las Vegas Nevada learner’s permit for 6 months, you’ll be ready for the next step in the Las Vegas Nevada Graduated License Program, the Las Vegas Nevada full license.
The Las Vegas Nevada Provisional Driver License or Las Vegas Nevada Full License
In order to apply for your Las Vegas Nevada Full Driver’s license, you’ll need to make sure you follow a few Las Vegas Nevada State requirements before heading down to your local Las Vegas Nevada Driver Examination Station:
- Hold your Las Vegas Nevada learner’s permit for at least 6 months without incident (no at-fault accidents, moving violations, or alcohol or drug convictions)
- Complete a Las Vegas Nevada approved driver safety course which includes 50 hours of behind-the-wheel experience
- 10 hours must be night-time driving
- If driver education is not offered within 30 miles of your home, you can take a Las Vegas Nevada-approved online driver education class
- If you do not have internet access, then you must complete 100 hours of supervised driving, 10 of which must be nighttime driving
- Regardless of how you choose to complete the required practice hours, you must keep a written log to be submitted to your local Las Vegas Nevada DMV. Your parents must sign this form
- The Las Vegas Nevada DMV also maintains a Beginning Driver Training Guide to help parents and teens practice driving
If you’ve completed these Las Vegas Nevada requirements, schedule your Las Vegas Nevada teen driving test by calling or online, then head on down to your local Las Vegas Nevada DMV again, where you’ll submit your application and the required materials. Again, you’ll need the following:
- Parent/guardian to sign a financial responsibility statement
