Congratulations on starting the process of applying for your Mesquite Nevada learner’s permit or first Mesquite Nevada driver’s license. Mesquite Nevada has a Graduated Driver License Program for Mesquite Nevada teen drivers, and there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure that applying for your first Mesquite Nevada driver’s license goes as smoothly as possible. So let’s get started.
The Mesquite Nevada Instructional Permit or Mesquite Nevada Learner’s Permit
When you turn 15 and a half, you can apply for a Mesquite Nevada Instruction Permit. To apply, you’ll need to meet the following Mesquite Nevada requirements:
- Be 15 and a half
- Complete a Mesquite Nevada approved driver safety course
- Present proof of identity (U.S. issued birth certificate or Social Security Card)
- Pay the $22 fee
- And your parent/guardian must sign a financial responsibility section of driver application
If you’ve met all of the Mesquite Nevada teen driver’s license requirements, head on down to your local Mesquite Nevada DMV and submit your application. Then you’ll have to take a written test, consisting of 50 multiple choice questions, a vision test, and an initial road skills test. If you fail, the retest fee is $10. If you pass, then congratulations. You’ve just received your Mesquite Nevada Instruction Permit, which is valid for 1 year.
Remember that with your Mesquite Nevada Learner’s Permit, you can practice driving with your parent, guardian, driving instructor, or licensed driver who is at least 21. All passengers must wear seatbelts, and be sure to carry your Mesquite Nevada Learner’s Permit with you at all times. After you’ve had your Mesquite Nevada learner’s permit for 6 months, you’ll be ready for the next step in the Mesquite Nevada Graduated License Program, the Mesquite Nevada full license.
The Mesquite Nevada Provisional Driver License or Mesquite Nevada Full License
In order to apply for your Mesquite Nevada Full Driver’s license, you’ll need to make sure you follow a few Mesquite Nevada State requirements before heading down to your local Mesquite Nevada Driver Examination Station:
- Hold your Mesquite Nevada learner’s permit for at least 6 months without incident (no at-fault accidents, moving violations, or alcohol or drug convictions)
- Complete a Mesquite Nevada approved driver safety course which includes 50 hours of behind-the-wheel experience
- 10 hours must be night-time driving
- If driver education is not offered within 30 miles of your home, you can take a Mesquite Nevada-approved online driver education class
- If you do not have internet access, then you must complete 100 hours of supervised driving, 10 of which must be nighttime driving
- Regardless of how you choose to complete the required practice hours, you must keep a written log to be submitted to your local Mesquite Nevada DMV. Your parents must sign this form
- The Mesquite Nevada DMV also maintains a Beginning Driver Training Guide to help parents and teens practice driving
If you’ve completed these Mesquite Nevada requirements, schedule your Mesquite Nevada teen driving test by calling or online, then head on down to your local Mesquite Nevada DMV again, where you’ll submit your application and the required materials. Again, you’ll need the following:
- Parent/guardian to sign a financial responsibility statement
- Mesquite Nevada Instruction Permit
- Proof of Identity
- Driver Education Certificate
- Completed Beginning Driver Experience Log

Then you’ll have to take the dreaded road test. If you pass, then congratulations! You’ve just earned your Mesquite Nevada Full License! However, you’ll still have to drive with a few restrictions for the time being.
