Riverton Utah Online Driver Education and Riverton Utah Licensing Procedures
Congratulations on starting the process of applying for your Riverton Utah Learner’s Permit or first Riverton Utah driver’s license. Riverton Utah has a Graduated Driver License Program for Riverton Utah teen drivers, and there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure that applying for your first Riverton Utah driver’s license goes as smoothly as possible. So let’s get started.
The Riverton Utah Learner Permit or Riverton Utah Instruction Permit
When you turn 15, you can finally apply for a Riverton Utah Learner Permit, otherwise known as a Riverton Utah Instruction Permit. In order to apply, you’ll need:
- Valid identification documents
- Social Security card or SSN proof (W-2 form, for example)
- Riverton Utah Residency Verification
- Proof of Driving Experience

Once you’re ready, head on down to your local Riverton Utah Driver License Office with your parent or guardian and submit your application. - Hold a Riverton Utah Learner Permit for 6 months
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Complete a Riverton Utah approved driving education course
- Practice driving for 40 hours with a parent/guardian, or supervising driver
- At least 10 hours must be at night (and must be signed!)
Then, make an appointment and head on down to your local Riverton Utah Driver License Office. Be sure to bring the valid identification documents, including your Riverton Utah Learner Permit. Then you’ll have to take the dreaded Riverton Utah road test! If you pass, then congratulations. You’ve just earned your Riverton Utah Minor License, otherwise known as the Riverton Utah Provisional License. However, you’ll still have to drive with a few restrictions for the time being.
Riverton Utah Teen Driver License Restrictions and Penalties
There are still a few restrictions you’ll have to keep in mind now that you have your Riverton Utah Minor License:
- All passengers and the driver must wear seat belts
- If you’re 16, no passengers under 21 for 6 months or until you reach 18 years of age
- The exception is if your passengers are family members
- No driving between midnight and 5AM unless you’re going to/from your job, a school sanctioned activity, for a medical emergency, or on assignment for a farmer or rancher
Once you turn 18, these restrictions will no longer be valid. Freedom!
Riverton Utah Auto Insurance Financial Responsibility Laws
Once you receive your Riverton Utah Provisional Driver license, you’re ready to drive--or are you? Not quite yet, because Riverton Utah drivers are required by law to be covered by liability insurance. The minimum liability insurance coverage is:
- $25,000 bodily injury for one person
- $50,000 bodily injury two or more people
- $15,000 for property damage per accident
If you are in an accident and found to be driving without Riverton Utah mandatory liability insurance, your Riverton Utah Learner Permit or Riverton Utah Provisional license could be suspended.
Riverton Utah Drunk Driving, Cell Phone, and Text Messaging Laws
As a Riverton Utah teen driver, it’s important for you to learn the Riverton Utah drunk driving, cell phone, and text messaging laws. - Home confinement
- $700 fine

- Also, possible alcohol/drug screening, assessment, education and treatment
And of course, further Riverton Utah DWI and DUI convictions will result in increased jail time, community service, fines, and Riverton Utah license suspension or even Riverton Utah license revocation.
Currently, Riverton Utah teen drivers are prohibited from using cell phones while driving.
