Safe Drivers Centre FAQ’s
How do I know if Safe Drivers Centre is certified by Texas's DMV to offer driver training courses?
While we do include Safe Drivers Centre's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Safe Drivers Centre is certified by the State of Texas. We recommend that you either contact Safe Drivers Centre directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if Safe Drivers Centre is a certified driver training school.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course. We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
I don't know how to drive using a stick-shift. Will Safe Drivers Centre have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my behind-the-wheel training?
Since you're enrolling in a Bellaire Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic! However, you should let Safe Drivers Centre know what your preference is before registering for their driver class. That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live in a remote area, that has a lot of dirt roads and bumpy terrain. Will Safe Drivers Centre train me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Safe Drivers Centre will want you to be taught how to drive safely on the local area's terrain.
Can 14-year-olds get instruction permits to drive in Texas?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for a learner's permit at 15 or 15 1/2. However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to get an instruction permit. You may want to contact the Texas DMV or a Texas-approved driver training school like Safe Drivers Centre to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Texas.
Can I take Safe Drivers Centre's driver training course before taking a Bellaire Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws say. However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course. We recommend that you contact Safe Drivers Centre directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Texas law says that I must sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Bellaire Texas. Is this something that Safe Drivers Centre can help me with?
Yes, Safe Drivers Centre offers the Texas-approved driver training course. For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Safe Drivers Centre directly.
What are the prerequisites in Bellaire Texas for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course. Safe Drivers Centre may offer an approved behind-the-wheel training course which you could take. Please contact Safe Drivers Centre for information regarding their available classes and how to go about registering for them.
Is hands-on driver training required in Texas in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
Absolutely. All new drivers in Texas must register for an approved behind-the-wheel training course before they can be issued a license to independently operate a motor vehicle.
Is it possible to register for a Texas-approved behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my Texas instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Texas, however most states require first-time drivers to receive an instruction permit before registering for a driver training course. We recommend you contact a driving school such as Safe Drivers Centre to obtain more information.
