A-1 Driving School FAQ’s
A-1 Driving School is listed on your website as a driving school which offers driver training courses. How do I know if A-1 Driving School is a licensed school in North Carolina?
While we include a list of driving schools on our website for your convenience, we cannot guarantee that every single one of them is currently licensed by the North Carolina DMV.  We suggest you contact A-1 Driving School directly or the North Carolina DMV to find out if A-1 Driving School is a fully-accredited driving school.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Charlotte North Carolina driving school like A-1 Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the North Carolina DMV or a state-approved driver training school like A-1 Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do you know if A-1 Driving School will let me take my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact A-1 Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their driver training course.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will A-1 Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a rural environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as A-1 Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact A-1 Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in North Carolina?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get a learner's permit.  We recommend that you contact the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as A-1 Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in North Carolina.
Can I take A-1 Driving School's driver training course before taking a Charlotte North Carolina defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what North Carolina's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on North Carolina's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact A-1 Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
If I need to sign up to take a Charlotte North Carolina driver training program, can A-1 Driving School help?
Yes.  A-1 Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses in Charlotte North Carolina.  For more information about the type of behind-the-wheel training A-1 Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a North Carolina driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the North Carolina DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to meet in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is hands-on driver training required in North Carolina in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in North Carolina must take an approved hands-on driver training course before they can get a license to independently drive a motor vehicle.
Is it all right if I register with a driver training school like A-1 Driving School prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your instruction permit before you sign up to take your driver training course like the one offered by A-1 Driving School.  We suggest you contact either A-1 Driving School to find out more information.
