Larues Driving School FAQ’s
Since Larues Driving School appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Rhode Island DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only. We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Rhode Island DMV. You may want to call Larues Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Rhode Island?
Each state has its own laws regarding driver training. Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for attending a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor. However, not all states allow this. You should contact the Rhode Island DMV to find out for sure.
Do I need to tell Larues Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift automobile! We recommend that you ask Larues Driving School if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift car before you register for their driver training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Larues Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Larues Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Larues Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit. We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Larues Driving School or the Rhode Island DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Rhode Island.
Am I required to take a North Providence Rhode Island classroom or online drivers education course before I can sign up to take a driver training course through Larues Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course. You should ask Larues Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
If I need to register for a North Providence Rhode Island behind-the-wheel training program, can Larues Driving School help?
Yes. Larues Driving School offers driving courses in North Providence Rhode Island. For more information about the type of driver training Larues Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in North Providence Rhode Island?
It depends on Rhode Island's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete a drivers education classroom course as well as a driver training course. You may want to call Larues Driving School to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would satisfy the regulations set forth by the Rhode Island DMV.
Is hands-on driver training required in Rhode Island in order to be licensed to drive a car?
Absolutely. All new drivers in Rhode Island are required to take an approved driver training course before they can get a license to independently operate a motor vehicle.
Can I enroll in a Rhode Island driver training course prior to having my Rhode Island learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to enroll in a driver training course. You should contact a driving school like Larues Driving School and ask for more information.
