Lake Driving School FAQ’s
Lake Driving School is listed on your website as a driving school which offers behind-the-wheel training courses. How do I know if Lake Driving School is a certified school in Indiana?
While we include a list of driver training schools on our website for your convenience, we cannot guarantee that every single one of them is currently licensed by the Indiana DMV. We suggest you contact Lake Driving School directly or the Indiana DMV to find out if Lake Driving School is a fully-accredited driver training school.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Crown Point Indiana driving school like Lake Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Indiana DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Lake Driving School to find out. Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do you know if Lake Driving School will let me take my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic! Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Lake Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on unpaved roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will Lake Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Lake Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Lake Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Indiana?
Possibly. However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit. We recommend that you contact the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Lake Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Indiana.
Do I have to complete a Crown Point Indiana drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Lake Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course. You may want to ask Lake Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Indiana's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Lake Driving School offers this course or not?
Lake Driving School does offer the driver training course that Indiana requires all new teen-aged drivers to take. For more information about the courses Lake Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Lake Driving School directly.
I live in Crown Point Indiana. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Indiana driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Indiana, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course. Lake Driving School may offer courses which would meet the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
I live in Crown Point Indiana and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I can be licensed?
Indiana law requires that all new drivers enroll in an approved driver training program before receiving their Indiana driver's license. Lake Driving School may offer a driver training course that you are looking for. Please contact Lake Driving School directly for complete information as to what types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer.
Will Indiana allow me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually get my learner's permit?
