Honest Driving School FAQ’s
How do I know if Honest Driving School is licensed by California's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Honest Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Honest Driving School is licensed by the State of California. We recommend that you either contact Honest Driving School directly or possibly the California DMV to find out if Honest Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in California?
Each state has its own rules regarding driver training. Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor. However, not all states allow this. You should contact the California DMV to find out for sure.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Honest Driving School allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of vehicle--stick-shift or automatic-shift! However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Honest Driving School and inform them before you register for their driver training course. That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live in a small rural community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Honest Driving School include being taught how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area. Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from Honest Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
Now that I'm 14, will California allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely. Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for an instruction permit. We recommend that your contact the California DMV office or a California-approved driving school such as Honest Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in California.
Do I have to take a Canoga Park California classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a driver training course through Honest Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do mandate new teen-aged drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course. You should ask Honest Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I am looking to enroll in a Canoga Park California defensive driving course. Can Honest Driving School assist me with this?
Yes. Drivers education courses are available in Canoga Park California through Honest Driving School. Please contact Honest Driving School directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
I live in Canoga Park California. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first California driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of California, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course. Honest Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What are the laws in California concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do. California law states that new drivers enroll in an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.Â
Is it all right if I enroll in a behind-the-wheel training school like Honest Driving School prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already received your learner's permit before you sign up to take your driver training course like the one offered by Honest Driving School. We suggest you contact either Honest Driving School to find out more information.
