Fair Driving School FAQ’s
Since Fair Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only. We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the California DMV. You may want to call Fair Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course. We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Fair Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle! However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Fair Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a rural area? Will Fair Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Fair Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
I just turned 14 years old. Can I receive my learner's permit in California?
Probably not. The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2. You should contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Fair Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in California.Â
Will I be required to register for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Fullerton California?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now mandate new teen-aged drivers to sign up for both a drivers education course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.
I'm required to take a defensive driving course in Fullerton California. Do you know if Fair Driving School offers defensive driving classes in Fullerton California?
Yes, Fair Driving School does offer driver training courses in Fullerton California. For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their driver training courses, please contact Fair Driving School directly.
I live in Fullerton California. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first California driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of California, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course. Fair Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Is a driver training course required in Fullerton California for me to get a drivers license?
The law in California requires that all drivers complete a driver training course as part of their driver education. You should contact Fair Driving School directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Will California allow me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually get my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out. However, most states require that you obtain your learner's permit before you register with a behind-the-wheel training course.
