Universal Driving & Traffic School FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Universal Driving & Traffic School is a licensed driving school in California?
Although Universal Driving & Traffic School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach hands-on driving courses in California. We recommend either calling Universal Driving & Traffic School directly or the California DMV to find out whether or not Universal Driving & Traffic School offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught driver training course. We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
What happens if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle? Will Universal Driving & Traffic School allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift car?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of vehicle--stick-shift or automatic-shift! However, if you prefer to complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Universal Driving & Traffic School and let them know before you register for their behind-the-wheel training course. That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if Universal Driving & Traffic School offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Universal Driving & Traffic School will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area. Â
Now that I'm 14, will California allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely. Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit. We recommend that your contact the California DMV office or a California-approved driver training institute such as Universal Driving & Traffic School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in California.
Can I take Universal Driving & Traffic School's driver training course before taking a Carlsbad California drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what California's laws say. However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on California's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course. We recommend that you contact Universal Driving & Traffic School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
California's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Universal Driving & Traffic School offers this course or not?
Universal Driving & Traffic School does offer the driver training course that California requires all new teen-aged drivers to take. For more information about the courses Universal Driving & Traffic School offers, we recommend that you contact Universal Driving & Traffic School directly.
How do I get a drivers license in Carlsbad California?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a driver training course. Universal Driving & Traffic School may be able to help you meet the driver training portion in California.Â
I live in Carlsbad California and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a driver training course before I can be licensed?
California law mandates that all new drivers sign up for an approved driver training program before receiving their California driver's license. Universal Driving & Traffic School may offer a behind-the-wheel training course that you are looking for. Please contact Universal Driving & Traffic School directly for complete information as to what types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer.
