C J'S Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-accredited by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in California. We suggest you contact the California DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is certified before you sign up to take their driver training course.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to attend a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in. There are some states which permit you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school. However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course. We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I can't drive a manual-shift. Will C J'S Driving School allow me to complete my driver training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact C J'S Driving School and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will C J'S Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in the country, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as C J'S Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact C J'S Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to receive my learner's permit in California?
Probably not. The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2. You should contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as C J'S Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in California.Â
Am I required to take a Santa Rosa California classroom or online drivers education course before I can sign up to take a driver training course through C J'S Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do mandate new teen-aged drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course. You should ask C J'S Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
