What documents or paperwork do I need to provide before I can learn to drive a car?
When you apply for your level drivers learning license (the Michigan equivalent of a learners permit), you must present proof of your social security number, proof of U.S. citizenship/legal presence, proof of identity, proof of residency, and a Segment 1 driver education certificate of completion.

How long until I receive my certificate of completion?
Usually 3-5 business days, if you opt for regular mail (USPS). However, for an additional fee, you can choose to have your Michigan online driver education certificate of completion sent by FedEx (3rd Day, 2nd Day, or Overnight Delivery).
Now that I have my Michigan learners license, when can I start driving?
As soon as you receive your Level 1 Michigan learners license. But remember, you must have a licensed adult in the front passenger seat at all times whenever you drive.
