Oregon’s graduated licensing system gives teens time to build driving experience before receiving a full unrestricted license. The process begins with a Provisional Instruction Permit at age 15, followed by a Provisional Driver License at age 16 after meeting Oregon’s requirements.
Before applying for a provisional license, Oregon teens must complete supervised driving practice. You will need either 100 hours of supervised driving experience or 50 hours if you complete an ODOT-approved driver education course. ODOT-approved courses also have the potential to waive the DMV drive test when eligibility requirements are met.
